The instructions said to fit the feet and then the central outer pedestal but failed to mention that the inner silver pedestal had to be inserted inside the outer first. I eventually worked it out. Another problem (which I have found with other pedestal fans) is fitting the manufacturers disc to the front of the wire cage. I gather there could be some differences in airflow and efficiency but not enough to worry about with a floor standing fan. Mine seems to be reasonably quiet and gives a consistent airflow.
