Good, if you know what to expect
I just finished installing this. The plastic feels very tough to me, and is plenty thick. I'd guess it's about 1/4" thick. It mounts up very solidly and doesn't feel like a hit from a branch or road debris / rocks would hurt it one bit. I'm giving it 5 stars, because it meets my expectations for an inexpensive knockoff snorkel. It does not compare to the quality of instructions, fit/finish, and support I'd expect from a lot of the top US brands, but you're basically trading all of that for the $350 savings, and that's something I'm personally fine with. The full installation process took about 4 hours start to finish. As other reviewers have said, it's not a 100% perfect fit, and some muscle was involved in getting it in place. You don't get instructions, and the cutting guide is ... I just finished installing this. The plastic feels very tough to me, and is plenty thick. I'd guess it's about 1/4" thick. The full installation process took about 4 hours start to finish. As other reviewers have said, it's not a 100% perfect fit, and some muscle was involved in getting it in place. You don't get instructions, and the cutting guide is pretty questionable. Nothing in the package will give you any guidance about where you actually need to cut your hood for the installation, or how to set up any of the hardware. You'll need silicone to seal the snorkel to the air box. I removed my air box and cleaned it with soap and water, then wiped the mating surfaces down with rubbing alcohol and applied a bead of silicone inside and out. Do this before you install the airbox back in the Jeep or you'll never be able to reach. I installed the snorkel with the hood open, then shut the hood and tried to make an educated guess where to cut, and it worked out ok, but just barely. I used the trim piece itself as a cutting guide by tracing the inside and outside edges on the hood, then drew in my own lines right in the middle and aimed for those. On my installation, the hood trim piece should have been positioned as far toward the hood latch as it could go without overlapping the slight dip next to the latch. I was a few mm left of that point, and had to do significant grinding of the trim piece to make everything fit. I'm pretty sure I would have had to do that in any case though, so be prepared for that. One of the pictures I included is a close-up of the trim piece fit - note that this should have been all the way to the right, and to compensate for that, I ground about 1/4" off the piece on that side. When I cut into my hood, I had my angle grinder positioned to cut straight into the hood, perpendicular to where I was making the cut, but I should have been cutting the horizontal cut with my grinder parallel to the ground instead, if that makes sense. The inner wall of the hood needs to be cut to clear the snorkel as well, so cutting parallel to the ground makes sure it's cut to the right height. I was able to clean that part up with a grinding wheel, which worked fine, but was more of a pain than getting it right the first time. I had to do a lot of close the hood, check the fit, open the hood, grind, repeat throughout the cutting process. Afterwards, I used some rubber door edge guard to cover up the rough edges, which ended up looking really nice. In a couple of spots the trim piece -just barely- covers my cuts, even though I did my best to be very careful. Think every move through. Some random information I would have appreciated: The ram air head does not have any drainage holes. There's no place on the snorkel for water to drain once it makes it in. The AEV snorkel, which was the model for this one, has drainage holes in the back of the ram air head. The intake pipe on mine has a 3 3/8" outer diameter. A 3.5" precleaner would probably fit just fine, but you'll want to rig up some kind of adapter / shim if you want to run something like the AEV prefilter, which has a 4" outlet size. Given the lack of drainage in the snorkel itself, I personally plan to grab a prefilter. This snorkel ends pretty close to the windshield, so I'm not sure there will be room for a lot of the options on the market, but I'm not sure yet. Right now, I'm happy with what I got. I hope that a prefilter will fit in the available space next to the windshield. EDIT: I found an inexpensive 3.5” prefilter on Amazon that fits great and easily clears the windshield (brand is Spec D Tuning). I’ve wheeled with this snorkel a few times and it has taken some solid hits from branches with no issues at all. I haven’t dunked it deep enough to need it and don’t really plan to, I’m more worried about dust and high-speed puddle running, so for my purposes I’m very happy with this purchase.

The snorkel serves it purpose I couldn’t get it to exactly fit like it should but got it mounted after some muscle and heat gun to manipulate it. If your handy and wanna put a little extra work into getting it fit. Buy it. Also another problem presented with my stubby antenna, it was present a challenge to fit through the slot of the snorkel so I removed it and gonna install a skinny oem antenna. I had flooding down pours here in Louisiana today tested it out on the roads and high way for about an hour, when I got home to check the air box it was bone dry. The plastic snorkel bit isn’t a precise fit. The two brackets that attach to the fender wouldn’t fit at all and there are no instructions. I installed only based off the a pillar bracket. The cutting guide and surround piece were completely useless. I had to make my own. If you don’t mind a bit of extra fab work to make it fit this is a good buy. Doesn't fit my 2001 Jeep Wrangler 2Dr, 3.8 as described!
This snorkel did not fit my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I am a machinest, fabricator, and welder by trade. I could not get this to fit in any way. If you bolt to the fender. The pillar bracket will not line up and door will not open. If you bolt to the pillar the fender brackets will not line up. Even cut the part of the snorkel that fits into air box and still not enough clearance for all brackets to line up.This snorkel did not fit my 2011 Jeep Wrangler.
