- SIGNED EDITION. This book is in Good condition and was likely, issued without a dust jacket. The book is in generally clean,, bright condition. The book covers have noticeable toning and, some ground-in dirt and spotting. The text pages are mostly, clean and bright, though there are spots of foxing throughout,, and the endpapers are heavily toned. This copy has been signed,, with a short inscription, on the front endpaper. "Dr. Carroll, Thrasher, a well known surgeon of this city and at one time, surgeon for the police department, died suddenly of heart, failure this morning. He was the only son of Dr. Marion, Thrasher and was unmarried. At the time of the Spanish-American, war Dr. Thrasher was in charge of the smallpox hospital here.", (from the introduction of the book)
