The steps came w/stars along with the holes, in the middle which the pictures doesn't show but I like them so that's also a plus. The tubes feel very solid,steps has a tiny bit of flex that maybe the break point. For me it was easier to mount brackets on to tubes then brackets to truck. Steps stick out a bit eyeballing about 4in from bottom door. Steps are about 10in down from the inside of the cab.
