Subtle Sophistication
I’ve liked this watch for a long time, but I was always hesitant to get it. I thought the gray on gray would be dull, and I thought I would prefer a mother of pearl face better. I saw some pictures of the nighttime luminescence from the hands and hour markers and thought it was nice, and finally decided to give it a try. I LOVE this watch. I find myself glancing at it throughout the day, when I’m NOT trying to see what time it is, but just to see how pretty it is. The matte gray face has a very subtle wave pattern that gives it an ever-so-slight bit of motion. The hour markers have a mirror finish, which catch the light and cause them to sparkle. There is a seconds hand and a date window. The bezel, like the band, has two parts...an inner section and an outer one. The inner part is a matte silver with the outer section a mirror polish. This has a really classy effect. The thickness of the watch head is minimal and it sits closely to your wrist. The Citizen logo is muted and doesn’t stand out, which is nice. The face and crystal are about the size if a nickel. The whole head of the watch is a few millimeters larger in circumference than a quarter. The locking mechanism is very easy to open, yet won’t come open on it’s own. And yes, it’s an Eco-Drive, which means no batteries to replace, as it’s solar powered. The links were challenging to take off, but I was able to do it myself with an internet search. If you like glitz and glam, with a bling factor, this may not be the best choice. If you like elegant, but understated, this is for you.
