What a great drill
Feels like handling a corded drill it is so powerful. Much better and heavier than the smaller Makita combi's I bought before which I was impressed with at the time. This one is a revelation. I don't think it will stall or burn out so quick when drilling into say green wood. If you can find one at a good price then get this, not one of the lesser Makita combi's. Compared to those the added torque is awesome. THIS IS NOT A TOY! I have to say, only difference from corded on the downside (like all battery drills I have come across) is that it does not have the drill speed of a corded. Apart from that it is hard to tell the difference in use, other than the brilliant convenience of this drill. I have got the Makita LXT impact driver and the bigger SDS 18V LXT so battery power fulfils all my drilling needs apart from core drilling in masonry and breaking rocks. What a wonderful world we now live in :)

well built drill.
Its worth paying a bit extra for the BHP458 compared with the economy makita combi drills. Left it with the lad to drill 50 or so rawl plugs into a concrete floor to install underfloor heating. Did the lot on a single charge 5.5 amp battery without over heating.

Good value, great quality
Drill arrived on time and was great value. These are not your ordinary diy type drill its big, heavily built and has lots of power.

Great piece of kit - love it.
I purchased this to replace a low priced 18v drill, and to match my impact driver. Wow, just wow. What a different it makes using it on all modes (hammer & drill etc) compared to my old one. This has some serious power and the metal chuck is a good option too. I use a 5amp battery (not genuine), but it soon ate that for prolonged use. Well worth the money and the 25 for a non genuine battery to get you started.

Great drill great price
I’ve owned Makita battery drills for 15 years, my new drill is excellent ,hammer drills brick wall no problem, and winds 4” screws into timber easy Very pleased, Bargin price

Makita 18v LXT combi drill
Super combi drill lots of power & torche I was really surprised just how powerful this drill is easy & quick to change drill & screwdiver bits nice & light to use very handy to have the front lights ideal when your drilling in tight & dark places, I'm more than pleased with this drill, fantastic price I would recommend this drill to anyone DIYer or Trademan I'm that pleased with it I have purchased the Makita lxt jigsaw & the reciprocating saw & I will be adding more Makita lxt tools

Makita DHP458 LXT 18V combi
A versatile and powerful pair of tools. Once you have used an impact driver like this, nothing else will do. Care need for prolonged drilling of steel etc as the motor will become very hot and can burn out. For the price, a very good investment. The chuck system on the drill is efficient and effective.

Very professional drill
An excellent driller. Holding woodwork .. Iron ... But when I drilled with it in concrete it was hard for me to drill in concrete .... In my opinion, whoever needs it for concrete drilling will buy a Rotary Hammer ... doing a better job. Beyond that is an excellent drill!
