The designers at Bethesda have spent years crafting the Elder Scrolls universe into a rich world for role-play and adventure. The writing in the Morrowind version for the Xbox is superb, with an involved and engaging plot that will take players to the inner depths of Tamriel and the top of its most dangerous mountains. Dozens of hours of gameplay will keep gamers inside the homeland of the Dunmer, and that's just the main storyline. One of the especially interesting features of this game is the completely open design and potential for multiple playthroughs. Characters in this game are not given one set “class,” but are instead given a choice of skills to select as primary and secondary abilities. These abilities govern how a character progresses, and even skills not chosen can be advanced at any time just by using them. Interested in role-playing a heroic knight crusading against evil and saving fair maidens? You can do that. Maybe a dashing and crafty swashbuckler supplementing her skills with a dagger using powerful offensive magic is more your style; you can do that. Perhaps an entirely different route fits your play style, like a court jester who uses guile, a silver tongue, and supernatural dexterity to talk, roll, and laugh his way to victory. You can do that, too. There is so much variety in Morrowind’s advancement paths that it's almost impossible to do it all in the first go.     Worth the investment

    Was worth the wait, never played it until that point. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end. I had only played oblivion and skyrim up til that point so it was nice to play the older games, even if it was just for lore purposes.

    Great if you are aware of what you are getting

    For a game made in 2002 it is great. If you rely heavily on graphics to enjoy a game, maybe it isn't for you because it is old. If you know what you are getting, the game is one of the best ever made. Heavy RPG elements, great story and even better soundtrack. The combat is misunderstood by a lot of people but if you look into how it works, you'll know how to handle yourself in a fight. Know that it's not perfect, but if you are looking for that Elder Scrolls magic, look no further.

    great

    I loved the original game I started playing on my original xbox. it was my first game completely open ended, and I have been a faithful fan since. I had other 2 already but wanted morrowind. wonderful !!!!!!

    One of the best!

    Another example of how Xbox used to have quality exclusives and at the time there was no other console game like it. Morrowind laid the groundwork for what was to come like Oblivion and Skyrim. While the graphics may not be up to today's standards they are still good and this should be on your bucket list if you are a fan of open world RPG's.

    so many reviews out there since the game is so old, but if you haven't played this one before I for sure recommend it, one of the best action role-playing games I've ever played
