    The Dying Grass

    This is a somewhat tedious telling of a fictional story that is based on the true history of the Nez Perce wars. Because I am from that part of the northwest, and am interested in its history (my great grandfather was a 'horse soldier' during those years - in just that area) , I bought the book. At this point, I am about halfway through it, and read about 50 pages a day - while frequently referencing the internet, other books, and local maps. Its not a modern-day 'thriller,' but it wasn't meant to be! Thus, it takes a certain dedication. I initially read about the book almost a year ago in the local newspaper and decided to but it on ebay. If you like historical fiction of this type, its a good read and I highly recommend it!

    A moving title that makes me think of how we almost destroyed the people who lived here before we came and took over.

    Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce Native American Indians should be admired and respected for his honesty.

    The Grass which Comes alive again

    This is a voluminous tribute to the Nez Pierce tribe, who were all but decimated because of the constant white man's attempt to colonize and appropriate. Though the content is daunting, the novel has a lyricism that is both memorable and musical. The heroic cadence never stops and though the inevitable outcome is devastating, the spirit of the Nez Pierce remains unwavering and unconquerable.
