The Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB is engineered, manufactured, and supported by Toshiba. With its 3TB capacity, this powerful hard drive lets you store a lifetime’s worth of photographs. You can also store thousands of HD videos and install hundreds of games.The DT01ACA300 is a hard disk that uses a standard 3.5-inch form factor. This large size supports bigger platters and allows heat to dissipate more efficiently. This HDD can support temperatures of up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit but generally runs much cooler than that. The efficient heat performance is due in large part to the fact that the mechanical drive requires only 5.2 watts to operate.This Toshiba hard drive relies on a Serial ATA III connection. At top speed, the platters spin at 7200 revolutions per minute, and this allows for a disk-to-buffer transfer rate of about 1030 Mbit per second. The SATA interface used supports 6.0 Gbit per second. In practice, that will allow for about 600 MB per second from the buffer to the computer. This hard drive also features a 64-MB cache, which speeds up burst transfers. This is far more than most applications require and ensures that you get the data you need exactly when you need it.Toshiba largely intends this 3TB drive for desktop storage. In the most common application, it will occupy a bay in your computer case that is 3.5 inches or larger. From the HDD, just run a power cable to the PSU and a SATA cable to the motherboard. Using this drive in an internal configuration isn’t your only option, however. If you require an external drive, you could use the DT01ACA300 by mounting it in an external enclosure. Used externally, this model will still achieve the same revolutions per minute and other performance benchmarks. This is the same hard drive that Toshiba includes in its desktop PCs. The DT01ACA comes with the necessary power cables, SATA connections, and other accessories.The DT01ACA hard drive is also suitable for use in RAID configurations. Using it in an array can offer a number of benefits, including faster data access and redundancy. You can install it for RAID inside a case. If you have a large number of drives, you can also mount them in a rack to keep your work area tidy.This HDD comes pre-formatted. It also customizable supports advanced format options. This product supports anti-shock technology, which makes it a good option for LAN parties and the like. It even has a halogen-free design. The access headers are also very efficient, which means that quiet operation is ensured even at peak speeds.

    Strong middling

    Nothing extremal. Just what I want for personal NAS - quiet enough (small NAS fan sounds louder or similar), cool, spacious (our cam 1h video ~ 8 to 16Gb so we really need something bigger than old 1Tb disk) for reasonable price. I hope it will cover my needs for next 2-3 years. Bonus - it's not only "never opened" - it's absolutely new (assembled in June 2016).

    3 TB is plenty of storage! but you just have to convert this disk to "GPT format" to use it all, here's how

    I wanted this 3 TB capacity disk for external storage, as one of two in a Vantec external drive holder. I thought since this took me some amount of effort to make ALL the drive usable I would pass on how I did it. (Since by default Windows file system will only recognize a maximum of 2 TB unless you change it) Immediately I took it out of the box I hooked it up, powered it on and went to "disk management" to add it - soon as I did, I saw that D.M. could only recognize 2 TB! And it would not allow me to add that extra space, to format it, or to do anything with it. I was sorely perplexed at the idea of losing one entire TB of storage until i found the solution - and it's easy. The fix is that you have to use disk mgt program to "Convert to MBR disk" to get access to all 3 TB... otherwise ...

    bad experience

    This drive worked for me a little more than a month . windose reported that the disc corrupted and offered to make up data, I turned off the computer ,Connect the other disc, but windose not loaded. in the BIOS drive appears, S.M.A.R.T. is bad. I am very upset and disappointed.
