The Intel 970 operates on a 64-bit instruction set and implements Intel 64 technology. The maximum memory capacity in this Intel Core i7 processor is 24 GB, which comes from three channels over a maximum memory bandwidth of 25.6 GBps. The Intel Smart Cache available is 12 MB, and the VID voltage for this six-core CPU ranges from 0.8 volts to 1.375 volts. A safe functioning temperature for the device is 154.2 degrees F or below. Additional enhancements available on this Intel Core i7 processor are AES New Instructions, VT-x with Extended Page Tables, Intel 64, Execute Disable Bit, Idle States, Enhanced SpeedStep technology, Turbo Boost technology, Hyper-Threading technology, and Intel Virtualization technology.

    Solid Processor, works great

    Processor worked quite easily. No bios update was necessary for my Intel X58 express. Chip overclocks to 4.2G quite readily.

    Old CPU gets a new life.

    Seeing as this CPU is a few cycles old I was aiming to use it as a Plex media server. And it performs exceptionally well. The cores/threads combination is a perfect fit. And not to mention the price. All of that made this fit perfectly.
