Its spindle speed of 5,400 RPM means installing a Toshiba MK8026GAX offers up to a 12 percent speed increase compared to typical 4,200 RPM 2.5-inch laptop hard drives. This Toshiba hard drive features a fluid dynamic bearing motor, which provides increased reliability while reducing operational noise. Compatible with Windows computers equipped with IDE Ultra ATA100 or ATA-6 interfaces, the 3.94 x 2.75 x 0.37-inch drive dimensions make it a suitable form factor for use in a range of laptops. Besides a higher spindle speed than many OEM drives, upgrading to a Toshiba MK8026GAX improves performance through its 16 MB buffer and 12 ms average seek time. While an internal 80 GB hard drive designed for portable computers doesn’t usually last as long as similar capacity desktop version, this Toshiba hard drive has earned a 300,000 hours MTTF (mean time to failure) rating; it will likely outlast the computer it’s installed in.

    Works well as a Bose replacement

    I bought this to experiment with a replacement HDD for a Bose Lifestyle 48/38. The Bose systems, no longer sold, allow the user to store up to 240 hours of music by ripping CDs. This HDD works well except for one minor issue. The drive doesn't spin up quick enough and causes the Bose to reboot. It works fine after the reboot.

    New drive for old laptop

    Ordered this drive to up date my old Dell D610 latitude laptop. Copied the old 20 GB HDD to this new 80 GB HDD using the logic cube hardware copier, all worked great. Need to buy 2 adapters to mate the HDD drives to the logic cube ribbon cables but they were cheap.

    Boot virus. That's what you get from China.

    The drive came pre loaded with a nasty boot virus. Thank you to the Chinese for that one. A dropper with multiple pay loads. The physical drive itself is fine once it was wiped clean. I am glad they are still produced. Just no longer a good idea to expect good products from China.

    Packed professionally and installed perfectly.

    It was used in an old laptop. Replaced a 20 GB HDD. Fit perfectly and went to working with no problems. I used it an a Dell Inspiron 1300 if you wanted to know.

    Great Tech at a great price!

    Looks like it's quality made. The technology used in the rotating platter, FDB, (Fluid Dynamic Bearing), enhances the HDD lifespan.
