Product Information

This groundbreaking series from the mid-1970s was helmed by Mike Nichols (CLOSER) and Aaron Spelling (CHARLIE'S ANGELS), and was a career-making showcase for such stars as Meredith Baxter and Kristy McNichol, among others. Focusing on an upper-middle-class California family, the show daringly portrayed controversial subject matter such as child abuse, extramarital affairs, and teenage alcohol dependency. The Lawrence family consisted of lawyer and patriarch Doug (James Broderick), housewife and mother Kate (Sada Thompson), and their children Nancy (Baxter), Willie (Gary Frank), and pre-teen Buddy (McNichol). The first two seasons follow the family through trials and tribulations that include Nancy's divorce, Buddy's first job, and a friend of Willie's who comes out of the closet.

    I originally looked at this model based on information on the validatebp.org website and it had good reviews for accuracy and function. Packaging was excellent and shipping time was also good. Everything is as shown and it works perfectly. Batteries included was also very nice. This is a great value for the price and I expect to get quite a lot of use from it.     FAMILY - Underrated as one of THE BEST TV show of the 70's - A must see!

    'Family' (not 'The Family' as titled when I purchased) was the anti 'All In The Family Show' of its time. This unique series showed us how, through most difficult times and tribulations, actions and discussing feelings honestly can resolve issues (most of the times). The show's creator Mike McNichol was not afraid to tackle virtually any controversial subject head on. This show was one of Aaron Spelling's best with an all star cast including a young Kristy McNichol and the talented (guest) actor/pianist John Rubinstein. Thrilled at the remastered, high quality of this DVD set.

    Similar to Eight is Enough

In this critically acclaimed series, we watched various Lawrences fight, fall in love, become ill, graduate school, begin new jobs and, most of all, love each other.

    Critically Acclaimed TV Series from the 1970s

    This TV Series was a favorite decades ago, but for me they stand up. Might not be for the younger folks but I love the series. Wonderful Writing and Acting and the Guest stars are interesting.
