    Console arrived very quickly :-) Box didn’t have sufficient tape on it and worked itself loose. Console was however satisfactory bubble wrapped which prevented damage. Console was as described and virtually in mint condition. Console works flawlessly. Purchased this particular one for a good price, it looking very clean and sold by a small business. Been using it since it arrived on Monday 6th October. Trusted EBAYER, seller should pay attention to packing. Would buy again from them:-)))

    Bought to replace broken PVR for old lady who can't learn anything new and was familiar with this model. Seller really helpful ... they responded almost immediately to my questions even on a Sunday afternoon!! Item arrived well packaged and exactly as described.     Does all what I want ....

    I had one of these machines for 8 years but then it finally decided it didn't do all what I needed. It would still play dvd's but it then would not accept all blank discs or always record. So as I used this machine just about every day the time had come to replace it. As I was used to this machine and was very pleased with it I thought hey I might as well just get another so therefor all I had to do was put the cables straight into the new one. Having a manual is a good idea to set it up but if you are good technically then you should be o.k. Great for recording from hard drive and t.v. onto a disc which is why I bought this machine as there are no new ones that I know of that have this feature.

    Classic design

    I think this was the best DVD recorder design ever, very intuitive controls and Sony build quality, but sadly they are no longer made. So very pleased to find this brand new old stock. Came complete with eveything except the original carton.

    Super clear recordings and easy to use

    I'd bought it to replace two Samsung boxes that were both constantly losing channel reception, this Sony has no such issues. Another positive is that, unlike the Samsungs, the DVD Drive works perfectly every time (and is really quiet) . As regards user friendliness It's pretty straight forward even without bothering to read the instruction manual. The recording quality is very good with great colour and perfect sound, the only negative being that the files are bigger than the ones on the Samsung of equal quality so it is easy to fill the hard-drive if you do not backup your recordings (rather than watch them from the Sony, I copy my TV recordings to my PC and then, when I've got time to watch them, I put them on a USB stick )

    Sony at its very best

    I'm delighted with the Sony Multi-Region 890 HDD/DVD Recorder. The 500GB hard drive is superb - with an extensive range of recording modes - the Freeview programme timer-recordings work extremely accurately. The HDD editng works is excellent - accurate to one frame. The archival transfer to individual DVD discs is very easy and was one of the reasons I chose this machine. This is my second as-new Sony 890 and can thoroughly recommend it. What-Hi Fi reviewed this model and gave it a 5 star rating.

    Well worth £50 - as Sky and others are moving away from scart sockets and the ability to record from receiving devices
