The Guns of Navarone
The Guns of Navarone is a story of a British commando raid on a German-occupied Greek island that has two Krupps coastal guns. The German guns are a menace to all non-axis shipping especially for the British destroyers bound to rescue two thousand British soldiers on another island. The commando raid is lead by a British major (Anthony Quayle) who concocted the raid, a noted mountain climber (Gregory Peck), a colonel from Cypress (Anthony Quinn), a British chemistry professor (David Niven) and a few conscripted soldiers. The commandos will have partisans from the island help them navigate in-and-around German roadblocks and traps. Will the commandos reach and destroy the Guns of Navarone? Watch the movie! WWII DVD Video
This is a historic movie of a real live event during WWII. I found it to be an outstanding purchase. The acting, directing, and photography are all beyond reproach.
