"If Barack Obama wants to quit his day job (and maybe he might), he can probably make it as a children's book author. Certainly, this is a beautiful package: thoughtfully conceived, handsomely illustrated and designed, and with a tight yet evocative text that brings children into the world of 13 famous Americans. Framed as a letter to his daughters ("Have I told you lately how wonderful you are?" the book begins), each double-page spread then asks a question that is exemplified by a person of note. "Have I told you that you are creative?" introduces Georgia O'Keeffe, who "helped us see big beauty in what is small: / the hardness of stone and the softness of feather." Most of the people briefly profiled are expected names-George Washington, Jackie Robinson, Helen Keller, CÉsar ChÁvez-but there are a few outliers here as well, including Billie Holiday and Sitting Bull. As the spreads turn, other children join (the unnamed) Malia and Sasha on the question page, each embodying their own special gifts and talents. Long's exceptional artwork has a timeless, Rockwellian quality that serves the text well, and the congregation of the children at the book's conclusion will have readers looking and looking again. An addendum features a bit more about each person highlighted. Parents will be happy to talk to their own children about how creative or kind or strong they are and reiterate, as the president does, their place in the American family.- Ilene Cooper"-Booklist,starred review From the Hardcover edition., "If Barack Obama wants to quit his day job (and maybe he might), he can probably make it as a children's book author. Seller shipped out the DVD miniseries called THE KENNEDY'S to me very quickly and it arrived earlier than listed and well wrapped up for the journey. They have great buy two get one free sales and their prices are great. The dvd set was listed as good and it showed up looking as new. I keep coming back to them for their veritery, prices, shipping speed and communication. Don't know yet if it's a good miniseries, but it is a good seller to buy from.

Item came on time and as described, have already done business with seller as this was a replacement for a refunded defective copy of the same set of DVDs. This copy worked great. The seller refunded my defective copy without hesitation and gladly allowed me to buy again. I will buy from this seller if they have any other DVDs I ever need. This is the kind of seller you want to buy from. They communicate well too.* The DVD set was a fantastic price too, thanks again.!

Item as described; plays well; quality as described; proper communication; fair price; timely receipt; could have packaged the dvds in a small box rather than a flimsy bag that causes the cases to get broken and chipped and sometimes the dvds get broken. Other than the flimsy bag, everything was great!

  • Excellent book about values and unconditional love!

I am so very impressed by President Obama's book! It is easy to read and has lovely pictures. I didn't realize that it was a large book; not thick, but it approximately (my best guess) 10"×12" or a tad smaller. This is a fantastic book which incorporates historical examples along with the notes (not long letters). Each note is something President Obama sees in his girls and or encourages them to become. It's a short book which is wonderful because it can be read and talked about without overwhelming a child with too much information in one sitting. As an adult, I enjoyed it as much as my neices! I cannot recommend this book enough! It is a joy to read!
