To start, this R-716 wrench with the 1/2" drive plug was purchased from a collectors standpoint. It is a very old 1955 vintage collectible tool which while it could still be used today, there are far more other efficient tools to do the work that this once did... speaking strictly as a collectible in that respect. This wrench can be used in two main ways, one is with the 1/2" male drive plug adapter. Which allows you to connect 1/2" female drive tools such as sockets, extensions or anything so long as it has a 1/2" female connection. However, this anvil uses a locking pin detent, so it can really only be used on drive tools which have a release hole on them, so that the drive tool can be dislodged after use. The second way is to remove the 1/2" drive plug and use the ratchet as a regular 1/2" 6 point ratcheting wrench. The finish on this ratchet wrench uses a black oxide finish, meaning it's not protected by nickel chrome plating. You could use this wrench around fragile finishes such as chrome plated items, and not be as concerned with damaging said parts. Overall, I won't ever be using this wrench. It's going to be cleaned, lubricated and admired, that's it. This tool is reminiscent from an interesting time in history, made by a legendary U.S tool company.👍
