Synopsis
Early 20th-century Singapore is a place where a person can disappear, and Harriet Gordon hopes to make a new life for herself there, leaving her tragic memories behind her--but murder gets in the way. way., Early twentieth-century Singapore is a place where a person can disappear, and Harriet Gordon hopes to make a new life for herself there, leaving her tragic memories behind her--but murder gets in the way. Singapore, 1910-- Desperate for a fresh start, Harriet Gordon finds herself living with her brother, a reverend and headmaster of a school for boys, in Singapore at the height of colonial rule. Hoping to gain some financial independence, she advertises her services as a personal secretary. It is unfortunate that she should discover her first client, Sir Oswald Newbold--explorer, mine magnate and president of the exclusive Explorers and Geographers Club--dead with a knife in his throat. When Inspector Robert Curran is put on the case, he realizes that he has an unusual witness in Harriet. Harriet's keen eye for detail and strong sense of duty interests him, as does her distrust of the police and her traumatic past, which she is at pains to keep secret from the gossips of Singapore society. When another body is dragged from the canal, Harriet feels compelled to help with the case. She and Curran are soon drawn into a murderous web of treachery and deceit and find themselves face-to-face with a ruthless cabal that has no qualms about killing again to protect its secrets., On the run from her tragic past, Harriet Gordon stumbles into a murderous web of cutthroat thieves in colonial Singapore.

- 2***4 (156)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufSeller shipped out the DVD miniseries called THE KENNEDY'S to me very quickly and it arrived earlier than listed and well wrapped up for the journey. They have great buy two get one free sales and their prices are great. The dvd set was listed as good and it showed up looking as new. I keep coming back to them for their veritery, prices, shipping speed and communication. Don't know yet if it's a good miniseries, but it is a good seller to buy from.
- a***m (702)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufItem came on time and as described, have already done business with seller as this was a replacement for a refunded defective copy of the same set of DVDs. This copy worked great. The seller refunded my defective copy without hesitation and gladly allowed me to buy again. I will buy from this seller if they have any other DVDs I ever need. This is the kind of seller you want to buy from. They communicate well too.* The DVD set was a fantastic price too, thanks again.!
- 0***m (819)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufItem as described; plays well; quality as described; proper communication; fair price; timely receipt; could have packaged the dvds in a small box rather than a flimsy bag that causes the cases to get broken and chipped and sometimes the dvds get broken. Other than the flimsy bag, everything was great!
