Great space saver
I have an already over crowed garage with two kids and lawn equipment the available real estate is precious. When my wife and I decided to get some Kayaks my only fear was where I was going to store them. The Hoist made it easy to store the Kayaks over the existing lawn equipment and toys. I have two of them side by side and we can still fit a car in on the other side of the garage. Simple to install and use
I had this up within minutes of receiving it... seriously, maybe 30 minutes. The ONLY problem was seeing how to run the rope through the brake. I got that part wrong the first try. My kayak is suspended safely above my expensive 2015 vehicle now, however, and I sleep soundly with no fears. MUCH easier and cheaper than trying to cobble something together at the hardware store! Kayak Hoist-- Convenient!
the Kayak Hoist was relatively easy to mount on our garage ceiling. It lifts & lowers easily. I do not know how well it works under full weight as my kayak only weighs about 30 Lbs.. What I like best is that it frees up wall space, & allows me to lower my kayak onto my car inside the garage in preparation of going kayaking. Because we live near numerous lakes, this is extra nice. Great, with one flaw.
The product works as it is intended quite well, except for for flaw. This flaw is that the straps want to slide right off my kayak. Perhaps different boats would work better. Great product for getting bulky kayaks and ladders out of the way and keeping them safely stored.
Tried building my own hoist only to find that they already make one that does everything you need and more. Bought a set of 2 and one of the brakes works great, almost 2 great as it is a little hard to get down. The other break doesn't quite work good enough, but is good enough once you tie it off. I am not keeping my kayaks on the hoists, only using them to get up to my rafters but could have stored them in the hoist w/out a problem. Just what I was looking for and easy to put up. Canoe/kayak hoist
This is very well made and extremely easy to install...however, I'm not a fan of the rope used. Although it's finely braided nylon, it is very soft and easy to fray....I'm sure it's fine and last a long time and very safe. Works well after installation
My biggest complaint about this item was the instructions. I wasted more time trying to understand how to put the ropes through once I had the supports connected to the ceiling board. Kayak Storage
Its perfect to get our kayak off the floor. Great quality for the money and it has everything you'll need to for a secure installation. Once I learned to let it down one line and then the other a little at a time ( this holds the rope brake open ), its easy up and down. Easy
Once installed I can store my kayak in a few minutes. The break works excellent, allowing me to stop and reset after every pull, up or down. Make sure you put a rope connecting the hooks so they won't slide off the ends. My only complaint is a small one in that the rope ends are not easy to get through the holes during installation. Does The Job And At A Reasonable Price
The instructions recommend that you mount the brackets to a separate mounting board (2 by 4 or 1 by 4) but they don't give you the hardware to then mount the board to the ceiling. We have higher than normal ceilings, so we barely had enough rope. I does work and gets the kayak out of the way.
