Product Information

Originally released for the Sega Master System in 1989 by Sega and Westone as Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, this is a remaster from developer Lizardcube. The game features hand-drawn animated graphics, a re-imagined soundtrack based on Shinichi Sakamoto's original, three difficulty levels, the ability to switch to classic graphics/audio at any time, and the option to play as a female character. In human form Wonder Boy is known as Hu-Man while the new character is Hu-Girl, and both can transform into a lizard, mouse, piranha, lion, and hawk throughout the adventure.<br><br>Picking up directly after the second Wonder Boy game Wonder Boy in Monster Land, The Dragon's Trap sees the protagonist turned into a lizard-man by the Meka-Dragon at the start of the game. The hero then sets off to locate the Salamander Cross that can turn them back into a human but to reach the cure they'll have to master each transformation and battle a number of dragon bosses. There are no specific levels; instead areas branch out from a central town with each location accessible by a specific creature type. For example, to climb a wall made of checkered blocks the player must first obtain the ability to morph into the mouse form that allows them to walk on the unique blocks.

    An oldie but a goodie

    Grew up with the original so very happy it made a comeback for switch! Its a childhood fave, and so glad they included the original graphic and sound option as well as a remaster look so us old school vets can still enjoy it the way we remember. The game is fairly simple but some areas can be a bit frustrating to figure out what to do and sometimes can be slightly unfair with having a bit to many things coming at you at once but its small potatoes in comparison. Its easy to pick up and play. If you like simple platforming adventure games, give it a try!

    Everything About This Makes Me Happy

    Takes a great game, makes it even better, new art style is wonderful, and even gives you the choice of reverting back to old school graphics if you need a more retro flavor in your life. My favorite part of the physical version is the label on the Switch cart has that old school hideous Master System label, and I love it!

    Fantastic classic game
