Different kind of law man
Though the stories are not on the disc in chronological order, I just looked on line to get the info. They do build on the previous movies so you will mis out if you don't watch in order. The characters are very real, flawed, but good people and I love the small town environment. If you like "cop shows", don't miss Jesse Stone! He isn't Frank Reagen, but he is a good cop.

Not really Paradise
I enjoy the plodding mystery stories in this group. Not a fan of Tom Selleck in his younger years but like him as the laconic, intense, older police chief, who leaves Los Angeles and takes the post in a small town in Massachusetts, where there is more crime than one might expect. I cringe each time he pours a Scotch rocks, which is frequently. He's an admitted alcoholic, and his visits to a shrink, played by a bearded William Devane, are humorous at times. Other supporting cast members include Viola Davis, in an understated role as his colleague (would like to see more of her), his likable sidekick cop nicknamed "Suitcase", played by Kohl Sudduth, and my personal favorites, Boomer, his bloodhound who travels with him cross country to his new job and soon has to be put to sleep due to illness, and Reggie, an Irish Setter/Retriever mix he adopts after finding him sitting next to his murdered owner. There's romance, mystery, and family drama--the whole gamut. The background music is mournful, the scenery is beautiful, dark and cold at times. I plan to buy the rest of the series.

jesse stone 8 pack
Love the movies. Thats why I ordered them. The only problem is that when I downloaded them from Sony to VUDU; the only service I had available that could recieve them; movie #8 Benefit of the doubt never made the transfer so I only have 7 movies in my library. I have contacted VUDU several times and they always admit the problem is on there end and that they will take care of It. I will hear from them in a day or two. Never heard from them and at this point am quite sure I never will. L. L. Benson

Great series
These movies are just the ticket when you want a good story with great attention to detail. The cast is top shelf and never leave you with that "don't I have something better to do " feeling. One word of advice, if you have not watched these, find an accurate list and watch them in order. We did not, but will the next time. And there will be a next time.

Terrific "good cop" stories
I loved the books, and wanted the DVDs for my collection. They are in excellent condition. Robert B. Parker novels featuring Jesse Stone are my favorite of his many books. The dvds star Tom Selleck as Jesse and he is perfect in the role. The stories are timeless and very entertaining.

Exciting & entertaining as always
I already own volume 2. Volume 1 is as exciting as the first. Jessie Stone is predictable as a cop can be. He knows everything about everyone in town. These movies are exciting & I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent Series
Tom Selleck is perfect in this role. I’m glad I own these movies so I can watch them whenever I want. For those who want to watch them in order: 2005-Stone Cold; 2006-Death in Paradise; 2009-Thin Ice; and, 2010-No Remorse. Volume 2 contains 2006-Night Passage & 2007-Sea Change if you wish to watch them in order plus 2011-Innocents Lost & 2012-Benefit of the Doubt. The 9th one released in 2015-Lost in Paradise is on a separate disc.

Awesome Movies!
I love this series, Jesse Stone as a Police Chief in a small town. I also love his dog who is very loyal to him. All the other characters in these movies are great too! I didn’t watch Magnum PI but I sure do love Tom Selleck in these movies.

Inspiring movie collection at a good price
Tom Selleck is the right physical type to portray the character in Robert Parker's books, and an under-rated actor, conveying much of the tragedy and strength of flawed hero Jesse Stone. The collected movies are easy to navigate on the discs, the quality very good and the price very good for a collection of very watchable, engaging movies with their heart in a good place.
