Product Information
The Ancient Art of War in the Skies, is the third and final game in the Ancient Art of War series. Like its predecessors, The Ancient Art of War, and The Ancient Art of War at Sea, The Ancient Art of War in the Skies is a real-time strategic wargame with a specific theme, in this case, a World War I era air combat. Go up against a myriad of computer controlled opponents, from Albert Ball to Manfred Von Richthofen, the infamous Red Baron.

Each opponent offers different challenges and skills, fighting accordingly. Three main modes make up the game. Map mode is where you plan and execute your strategies, as well as getting an overview of the battlefield in general. Since the fronts are always in motion, this is a very important mode, allowing you to plan interception, patrol, and bombing missions with whatever assets you have available.

The dogfighting mode can take two forms. In the first, you control a fighter up against other fighters and bombers in air combat not presented in the typical first person view, but in a side scrolling view typical of arcade games. The controls for this mode are simplistic in nature, making dogfighting a winnable challenge. The second dogfighting mode has you take command of the gunner on a bomber, shooting at fighters trying to shoot you down. This mode is also simplistic in nature.

The third mode is the bombing mode, showing the ground below from a bird's eye view that allows you to drop bombs on selected targets. Each of these modes is available in both a training simulation and from the main map screen during the course of a battle. One can opt not to fly these missions personally, allowing the computer to succeed or fail, but the choice is always left to you.
You can also opt to play one of the many campaigns and scenarios included with the game, or build your own with included map, scenario, and campaign editors.Product Identifiers
