A decent book but definitely NOT a “bible”
This book has both color and black & white upper case letters. The size is rather small. All I can say is that the book is extremely lacking and disappointing as one might feel expecting a “Bible of Illuminated Lettering”.. Treasurehouse of basics and truly meticulous artistic gilding guidance that is becoming a lost art.
It is a great book, almost a classic. I don't think it is well suited for the beginner. Lot of history and ideal for step-by-step directions for someone who wants to get into the Illumination specialty, working with gold gilding.or metallic gouache. Comprehensive and Beautiful
Smaller than I had expected (it's about 5"x8"), this tome is nothing short of glorious! From first page to last (in full color), this book gives you step-by-step instructions on how to illuminate your written page. Very comprehensive with lots of pictures and helpful hints.
