The 10-30mm zoom makes it versatile and therefore suitable for various situations – from group shots and landscapes to portrait photography. The vibration reduction system (VR II) gives tremendously sharp images even at low shutter speeds or when using bigger zoom in low light. Ghosting and flare are virtually nonexistent thanks to Nikon's multilayer coating, and the internal focus feature enables focusing without changing in lens' size, which contributes to its lightweight construction and small form factor. Make Your Nikon 1 Camera Small Image Wide
I have a Nikon 1 J1 camera that I converted to IR-Full-Spectra. The 10mm lens pancakes the camera to make an easy pocket fit as compared to the 10-30 and 30-110 lenses.
