NotesCooder slides on into his second studio album with classic style. A pioneer of "roots rock" and Americana, let Ry Cooder take you somewhere nostalgic with this wonderful release from Reprise Records.
One of the tracks, "On A Monday", is my all time favorite Ry Cooder song. Rest of the CD is very unremarkable. Audio quality is very good. Doesn't have the harshness of many CDs from this time period. Could be the type of music. Could be dynamic range limiters. Don't know. But audio quality is above average.
This CD is one of my favorites by Ry Cooder. With such memorable cuts as, "On a Monday" and "Vigilante Man" . Leadbelly and Woodie Guthrie would approve of Cooder's rendition. He is certainly a master of his craft. His music is expressive. I believe he has the soul of one of the early Delta Blues men! This album was originally recorded on analog tape prior to modern noise reduction technologies. Therefore, this CD preserves, as closely as possible, the sound of the original recording.
Still got the LP from my younger years! Nice to listen to the cd in my car! Ry Cooder is WAY too under-rated in Canada for his history and truth! Deserves way more for his playin', history, and identification with others!
