Product Information
Created by producer Bruce Paltro (ST. ELSEWHERE) in the late 1970s, THE WHITE SHADOW refers to newly sidelined Chicago Bulls player Ken Reeves (Ken Howard), whose injuries have forced him into retirement. He takes a job at a rough, mixed-race inner city school as a basketball coach, and acquires an eclectic group of charges through whose trials and tribulations he guides them. The heartwarming but street-smart saga addressed problems of racism, drugs, gangs, class, homosexuality, and learning disabilities, while Reeves also had to deal with the vice principal (Sybil Buchanan) who didn't much like his methods. White Shadow
DVD showed up in a reasonable amount of time. A few disc skipped, but I was able to clean them up and they are working fine now. Outside case was a little worn and in tough shape.

Classic

A treasure that's worth reliving
A time when shows had entertainment, caring characters, meaning stories and value all without stooping to cheap offense humor that television has Long forgotten. You won't find in this television show any of today's shortcut stories or an instant, empty, gratifying, meaningless eye candy that viewers are now used to, just to pass the time by that makers of shows put out there today. The character of coach Ken Reeves is just the character that can still teach people young and old even today in 2017 about integraty, morals, principles, hard work, and respect something that's Now long forgotten in television, unfortunately.
