If you like to build model aircraft in ANY scale, BUY THIS KIT!!!
A REALLY GREAT representation of the earlier Lockheed P-38 F/G-series aircraft. The molding is precise and light-handed. The kit goes together without ANY hassles, very much UNLIKE any of the competition's, read: HASEGAWA's and ACADEMY's 1/48 P-38 kits. The finished product can be likened to an actual P-38 F/G, shrunk-down in size to 1/48 scale! This kit is typical of the "industry standard benchmark" which has been set by TAMIYA, where 1/48 model aircraft are concerned! TAMIYA has continued in this vein, especially so after their hugely successful 1/48 P-47-series, F-14-series, their Bf.109G-6, and their Spitfire Mk.I... Best Tamiya kit ever
What a fabulous kit from Tamiya. The best Tamiya kit ive ever purchased. The best engineered kit ive ever seen. Everything fits perfectly. The joints are so crisp with no flash and the seams fit together so well there is almost no need for any filler except for the tail booms and even then if you use some Tamiya quick set on the seems when you glue it, just some minimal sanding and the joint is invisible. I really love the engineering used to place ball bearings as ballast to allow the plane to stand on all 3 wheels and not end up as a tail dragger. Tamiya P-38 F/G Lightning
This is one of the latest releases from Tamiya. They always make highly detailed and accurate scale models, and this one is no exception. The scale and manufacturing is 99/100.
