This Western Digital model wd2500aakx HDD features IntelliSeek. It allows the device to calculate the optimum seek speed to manage power consumption, lower noise, and lower vibration. To enhance performance and reliability, Western Digital understands that keeping a storage device cool while it is operating is a must. Lowering the operating temperature can help to ensure that the product and its contents remain protected. Perhaps more importantly, your data is protected as well. WD NoTouch ramp load technology ensures that the recording head of the hard drive doesn't touch the disk media. The feature greatly reduces wear on both the recording head and the media. It also serves to better protect the hard drive while being transported. This internal HDD features a metallic cover that protects data from damaging bumps and vibrations. The integrated ShockGuard also works to protect the drive from bumps and vibrations instantly when in use. This allows WD Caviar Blue devices to lead the industry in shock protection. WD, in cooperation with other hard drive manufacturers, has been working on Advanced Format Technology. This tech is one of the ways to help create larger capacity reliable hard drives. AF enables increased areal densities to create a more efficient media format.     Quiet, fast, reliable, and robust.

    While this hard drive is only 250GB it offers 6Gbit/s speed and it is made by an extremely reliable company (Western Digital). I have personally used these drives for years on end and I've never had a problem with them. The drives themself have a mechanism that when the power to the drive is lost, the head will automatically disengage, preventing damage to your data and to the drive and preventing data corruption in the event of a power failure. You can expect prolonged lifespan with these drives. Also, this drive is quite quiet. A typical laptop keyboard is much louder than this drive's read/write activity.

    These used items are still in good working order, although S.M.A.R.T. reports they have a lot of mileage on them.

    Used drives are often a crap shoot. Sometimes they have a lot of good life in them, and sometimes not. I've only had these used Seagate drives for a few weeks, so it's too soon to say how much service I can expect from them before they come to their inevitable end of useful life.

    New and fast

    Nice new hard drive. It works good. I just installed it in a system build. Not sure about how reliable it is, there's no other choice but I'm sure it will last like any normal hard drive.

    Wester Digital Hard Drive

    WD has always been a decent HD and this one does the job I need. The key factors are SATA III and 7200RPM - about as fast as it gets with mechanical hard drives.

    Great Drive. Brand New.

    Used in a Phenom II x6 with 8gb ram and a 7870xt. Using as a boot drive with limited space for some games on a budget HTPC. Perfect drive. 134.4mbs read / 132.2mbs write. Excellent drive.
