Purchased for my brothers 80th birthday.
He served his National Service, in an era when people accepted that you put something back, principally in Cyprus. Thankfully, his stories which this set amply illustrate persuaded me not to volunteer for RAF enrollment. Different times, different values. My brother chuckled thru every episode!

Good Entertainment
This was my first time of watching this series and it was quite good, better than some of the so called sitcoms that come out nowadays. I did make the mistake of watching a series each night which was probably overload. Will wait another 6 months before watching again.

They don't make comedies like this any more unfortunately, I remember watching it on tv and am glad to have it in a complete boxset

Well worth watching again.
Brings back memories to me a 22 year ex RAF Serviceman. Although I missed national service I can still remember a lot of relevant bits from 1964.

national service
As an ex RAF national serviceman of the mid fifties i loved it even if cpl marsh did have his webbing belt on upside down once in the first series! Do not ask how many times i have watched it because i have lost count.
