The book was wrapped in layers of brown paper, placed in a plastic sleeve, wrapped in generous layers of bubble wrap & placed in a sturdy box! Fort Knox in a Box! This is an old, retired library book. So, it's a bit beat up, but intact. I love it! I imagine the many hands that have turned its pages, eyes that read, brains it sparked.     a must read!

    great book. if ur a woodworker or engineer u need to read this series. this is book 2 of 12. this one explains the making of wagons, grinding mills, etc. great reading room material.

    The old Appalachian ways

    This is a great book w lots of pictures and a few instructions on how to make things the old Appalachian way. It tells lots of stories about people.

    Appalachian life

    I am a huge fan of anything Foxfire. Since a teenager I have been fascinated by Appalachian mountain life in the early 20th century. Such strong, resourceful people gifted with artistic and practical talents. I visited Foxfire Museum in northeast GA. this summer w/ my grandkids and I was not disappointed. Such a wonderful thing for youngsters to experience.

    Foxfire books are good resources

    There are many interesting details in all the old Foxfire books. I wanted to see what wild spring edibles were referenced in this volume, and was not disappointed.
