Product Information

The television comedy M*A*S*H, based on Robert Altman's hit film of the same title (based, in turn, on Richard Hooker's novel), debuted in 1972. Set during the Korean War, the show revolved around the nurses and doctors at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital located precariously close to the war's front lines. The original protagonists of the show were Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and Dr. "Trapper" John McIntyre (Wayne Rogers), two raffish and rakish surgeons with a healthy disdain for authority and the war in general. This attitude led to numerous stand-offs with hard-line military types Dr. Frank Burns and Senior Nurse Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan. (Eventually, the McIntyre character was replaced by the cleancut family man B.J. Hunnicutt.) In the process of becoming one of the most successful and beloved programs in TV history, M*A*S*H completely reinvented situation comedies. The show introduced a multi-layered plot model that involved, typically, three interwoven issues per episode. The show also blended serious and lighthearted subjects, creating the much-imitated "dramedy" model. Additionally, M*A*S*H let the characters drive the action, and over the course of its 11 seasons the characters all underwent personal transformations--a major break from the static roles of the past. This release includes the entire final season of the show.

    Can’t live without MASH

    I love the entire series which is why I bought it. Season 11 wasn’t enough it was just a teaser. Got to have it all. Love Hawkeye! What a guy! And Frank is a total idiot. Shows you how far the powers can go and not be contained. Margaret is beyond understanding. But I sure love the show!

    MASH the timeless entertainment

    Still funny after all these years! Poignant look at the heroic efforts of the gallant surgeons, nurses, service men of Korean War. Much more appreciated view now. MASH is a masterpiece.

    mash 4077 season 1 -11

    Mash was a great tv series made you laugh i watched it with my grandfather growing up along with andy griffith, mash as i said could make you laugh and then make you cry , it showed and televised things like racism, homosexuality, and the problems that arose from war gave you as a viewer a chance to really appreciate what you had and to appreciate the people who fought during the korean war and those who died , mash was and still is the best series you could buy and have i have all eleven seasons i was 7 years old when it went off the air but in the last few years ive added mash to my dvd collection hopefully when im gone my kids oneday may enjoy it as much as i did when they get older...

    Last season of M.A.S.H.

    I haven't watched it yet but it is in the original box and plastic wrapper. So I'm hoping it will not have any problems playing.
