My best guess is it had been stored near new luggage or some other item that has that strong manufacturing odor when brand new. Anyway, I notified the seller about the odor, not to ask for anything, but just to let them know, so hopefully they'll take steps to prevent exposure of remaining inventory.

Seller denied delivered package was from his location and issue was investigated further at USPS and by seller. There has been much seller and my involvement and communication attempting to resolve issue on multiple levels. Both seller and myself resolved issue amicably and reached an acceptable and fair resolution for both parties. I would purchase and recommend seller in future based this resolved issue
