They basically told me no repair was available and I'd need tp purchase an iPhone. I found a battery replacement service on eBay through celldealz206 and what a great experience that was. Mailed my iPod to them and they returned it to me within a week. Works great and there was no data lost!

They put a lot of time and effort in trying to get it going again, for which I am very grateful.
