Terrible product that proves you can't reliably recharge alkaline batteries
Terrible product that proves you can't reliably recharge alkaline batteries. Yes, it does work (to some degree), but it doesn't charge discharged alkalines to any real usable level. They only hold about 25% their original capacity, if at all. Maybe only enough to run an LCD clock for a couple days. They also ALL eventually leak, often while charging, but will definitely leak while sitting after being charged. They self-discharge really fast, within days. The lesson: Don't bother trying to recharge alkaline batteries. There's a reason alkaline recharging never took off. It's another case of, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." After a few weeks, some battery juice leaked and made it so only 2 of the 4 slots can work at all. Might be an okay NiMH/NiCd charger, but I ... Economical and versatile
I have used it for NiMH and alkaline batteries, AAA and AA, and can confirm that it works exactly as advertised in all cases (have not used it for C-cells or for NiCad, and probably won't). I typically go through a 16-pack of alkaline AA's every week or two for my wireless microphones. So in the short time I have had it (about 3 weeks) the charger has already paid for itself by reducing the expense of new batteries. It also recharges my NiMH batteries better than the rechargers I bought with them, sold under the same name brand as those batteries. Those chargers are years old, so that may not be so surprising. But the versatility of this charger means I don't have to concern myself with the expense of replacing multiple kinds of chargers just to keep using those batteries. I have used it for NiMH and alkaline batteries, AAA and AA, and can confirm that it works exactly as advertised in all cases (have not used it for C-cells or for NiCad, and probably won't). Initial use reaction is that this is the battery charger I've been looking for, and at a good price. Turned out the previous name brand battery charger I was using was not charging until batteries were fully charged but rather was using a simple timer, the result being that the batteries were never fully charged. This MaximalPower charger not only stays on until the battery is fully charged but you can charge one at a time or any combination of the same type of battery, and it does it fast. Most of the batteries I charged were ready for use after a couple of hours. There was one C sized NiMh battery that took more than four hours. The MaximalPower charger has a display that indicates how drained each battery is, whether it's a bad battery, and shows you that it's charging and how much ... Gonna save money being able to recharge alkalines. Warning, the batteries are very hot immediately after charging is finished.

Looking for some time for this unit to be manufactured, sold at this low price.
Charges alkaline well, not to full capacity, but close. It detects defunct batteries instantly. LED indicators all work independently. All the batteries in my possession are now charged except watch type disks.
