glued stainless steel to cast iron
The lifting bars on an old 'standard size' cast iron manhole cover (over a sewer inspection chamber) had completely rusted away so I decided to try replacing them with suitable lengths of 6mm threaded stainless steel rod hammered tight into the 'dished' cast iron recessses. I ordered 'steel' araldite because it claims to bond both these materials, but, as the manhole cover is outdoors, I was dubious after receipt when I read that this araldite 'resists water'. I cleaned the cast iron 'joints' with a rotary wire brush and applied a generous amount to each surface before positioning the new rods in dry weather. It rained the next day, making the joints wet and partly submerged. I did not attempt to lift the cast iron sewer inspection cover until it was dry again and then did so ... Made excellent repair. Would prefer lighter grey.
Used as a filler to repair small aluminium break/chip Worked really well. Excellent adhesion to broken face of aluminium. Filed and sanded up to look like new. Only fault, it is quite a dark grey. I could have used aluminium filler but it was to stiff and putty like so I did not have confidence in its adhesive qualities. Better to have the darker grey than something that did not stick. Worthy of its' name
We needed this to stick a leg back on a cast iron trough and a flower that had broken off a large garden fairy. We had tried other so called specialist glues but they didn't last very long. Araldite Steel seems to have done the trick this time. We've plenty more in the tubes so just hope that its ok to use the next time we want it.

Don't buy
I read the instructions and used it to stick some metal mirror fixings to a outside metal mirror as I didn't want to drill it. Let it to dry for 8 hours even though it says 2. I was just hanging mirror when both fixings came off. Luckily I was still holding the mirror. I used araldiate on a cast iron table 15 years ago to replace a top. That has now sat in my garden for that amount of time and it's still secure. I wouldn't recommend this product. Used to fit safe limpets on safes and when set its like you have welded the limpet to the safe We can’t drill safes but with this you can basically glue and forget it’s never coming off
