Silent Hill tells the story of a man searching for his lost daughter in a bleak tourist town. As Harry Mason and his daughter Cheryl were driving down the road, a dark, ominous figure appeared in the vehicle's headlights. Harry tried to avoid it; he swerved out of the way but lost control of the car and crashed.<br><br>After coming to, Harry stood up from the wreckage and took a look around. It was the spot of their vacation destination, only something was seriously wrong. There were no pedestrians or cars around; he was seemingly alone and his daughter was missing. It was snowing -- something seemingly impossible during the summer months and the air was filled with a thick, dense fog.<br><br>Much like the Resident Evil series, Silent Hill is played from a third-person perspective in a world emphasizing on elements of horror and fear. It focuses on realistic character controls -- Harry runs and acts like an average person; he'll get tired after constantly running around and begin to breathe heavily. Because most people lack the knowledge of operating firearms, Harry has an inaccurate aim meaning he often misses his target. <br><br>Unlike other survival horror games (circa 1999), Silent Hill takes place in a seemingly real town -- road signs and park benches are strewn about on each sidewalk and the buildings are modeled with names and window dressings. Instead of rummaging around through biochemical laboratories and big mansions, Harry will search for his daughter through an elementary school, a hospital and the town's many streets.<br><br>While walking down the various roadways, caution must be practiced -- horrific creatures are lurking about; hellhounds are ready to pounce on you, flying and seemingly skinned pterodactyls hover around, and little mummified babies with knives are prepared to end Harry's life. Fortunately, he has been supplied with a pocket radio that emits noise and static when an enemy is approaching -- will you run or will you face the unknown terror?<br><br>What started off as a vacation has turned into a nightmare...one that Harry may never wakeup from.     USPS briefly misplaced this package. Seller communication was excellent, they went the extra mile of contacting USPS, opening an investigation, and sharing with me the results of that contact, which is something I've not seen in almost 25 years on eBay. Once my game arrived, it was well packed and the condition was absolutely stunning. It was described as Pristine and Mint+ and if anything that was underselling it, better than many new games still in the shrink wrap. A++++, fantastic seller!!!!!

    The Indianapolis USPS Distribution Center is in the news here in Indiana with many complaints of mismanagment as they are currently understaffed and packages are continually being delayed. Several of my orders have been affected. I apologize for this ongoing post office problem, hopefully they will correct this soon.

    Great horror game.

    I remember Silent Hill pretty much when I had it years ago. It really is a great and creepy horror game in a similar vein as Resident Evil but without zombies. The atmosphere is really spooky and you never know what is going to come out of the fog.

    An Eternal Classic

    Despite the age of this game, the gameplay is both compelling and challenging, but still manageable. Most games as old are either boring because they're too easy or boring because they're too hard to play. Silent Hill has such a nice learning curve that someone like me who has never played it could still wade through.

    Silent Hill 1 Disc Only was a great buy!

    This was one of my nostalgic games I played as a kid and frightened me so bad lol. Great buy. Completes are almost 179 plus. I just got a reproduction case for this. So it costed me less. Has a little wear and tear on front label but other than that it's in good condition.

    Original idea of horror and PS1

    When I think of horror I immediately go to silent hill 1 and it’s sequel; the atmosphere holds up as sinisterly beautiful and music mentally endearing . The story builds up as the game progresses, not having to rely on previous installments for information, having some of the most strange and complex game scenarios, from sewers to elementary schools.

    Great game

    This is a great game and I got it for a great price. It can be very hard to find for such a good price, and the game came packaged very well and fit the description.
