Inaccurate and slow
We have another model of Garmin we've used for years and found quite satisfactory. We got this one as a backup for the second car. Unfortunately the quality of the software in this model is much inferior. After three days using it we find it can't resolve zip codes, imagines streets where there are none, and doesn't tell us about making turns until we are already past them. It doesn't have the traffic alert feature that our other Garmin has. On the plus side, this model wakes up and finds satellites as soon as you unlock the car, so it's ready to go before you even start up. My advice would be to buy one of the more expensive models with better software.We have another model of Garmin we've used for years and found quite satisfactory. has learning curve
I upgraded from a 55w to this. First the lifetime naps and up grades is best. but only the 48 lower states. Canada seems to be forgot. I did a data transfer from the old to the new. it went well. all favorites are now here. Some older functions are a bit hard to find at first. Like where am I changing. City and state are not an easy noticed button. Getting use to it. also getting faster. The ability to set notices of area conveniences- ATM/gas stations/lodging. a few more can get a better description with a touch. I did purchase the backup camera ( separately ) . Nice add on wireless. check around for pricing.. Nice big screen. the best upgrade to this system is that it lets me know which lane to be in for a -- merge-turn off - road change. split screen. some times it is a bit slow on the ... I did not know this and wondered why the battery went dead over night. It was in sleep mode. a long press on the power button has a power off tab. Use it ! It does remember the directions even in the power mode, for a continued trip the next day without reprogramming it. So far I am very happy with it. starts fast, acquires satellite fast .

The item is performance reliable. But actually I'm looking for 6"screen, but I missed out on the item which I had bought, I thought it was 6"screen. So that'll be a little bit expensive for me seem it was 5"screen size. But anyway it was working fine.

Another great Garmin GPS unit
The third Garmin Nuvi I've owned. We have one for the car, and this replaces the one I had on my motorcycle which suffered a short or power surge due to a loose plug-my fault. This was easy to set up, especially transferring my saved places from the old bike one. The screen is sharp and clear, but I have not tried it yet in direct sunlight, so we'll have to wait to see how that is. I saw several references to this unit being waterproof, but I do not think that is the case. Just people repeating mis-information. (Sort of like some so-called news networks.) Regardless, the connection on my motorcycle is not waterproof, so this unit will not see rain.The third Garmin Nuvi I've owned. GARMIN NUVI 57LM 5" GPS w/Lifetime map
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. Instructions are given accurately, satellites engage quickly, shorter routes with less traffic are given. This unit had no hesitation regarding which lane to be in or indecision when to turn immediately after one maneuver. Like all technology, the learning curve is taking a while to use efficiently.
