A standard of the sword-and-sorcery genre, THE BEASTMASTER takes its place alongside CONAN THE BARBARIAN and WILLOW. Dar, the Beastmaster, is a warrior in a mythic land who has the power to communicate with animals. He sets out on a quest to destroy the villainous cult leader Maax, who engages in human sacrifice and murdered Dar's parents. Along the way, he meets an assortment of other adventurers, and the motley crew helps Dar bypass the many trials he must endure before he can confront Maax. THE BEASTMASTER was made during the early 1980s craze for fantasy adventure films, and still stands as one of the most popular. It was directed by cult filmmaker Don Coscarelli (PHANTASM, BUBBA HO-TEP).

Video tape
This product arrived in great shape and the art work immediately brings me back to my childhood. The pacing in this movie is excellent. Marc Singer plays a compelling, believable action hero and rip torn is fantastic yet oddly disturbing as the villain. This cream colored box with bold lettering "The Beastmaster" will make a handsome addition to my video library of hard to find retro classics.
