    GREAT WRITING, GREAT ADVENTURE

    If you've read Peter Hathaway Capstick before (Death in the Long Grass, Death in the Silent Places, & so much more) then you know he has a knack for a turn of phrase and description of the natural world (both its dangers and its beauty). He doesn't disappoint in Sands of Silence. Also filled with many photos. You get the feel of the place (Namibia), its animals, and people. You may not agree with his lifestyle as a hunter, but he lived it. I rate his writing with that of Louis L'Amour, an adventurer who took his living experiences and mixed it into his stories. L'Amour visited each place he wrote about. The same can be said of Capstick. Any books by either author are worth reading and I can heartily recommend this one. I would just mention one other thing.     I have many of Capstick's books and this is as good as any

    This one of Capstick's ongoings to finally get an elephant of his own . true to form , you almost sweat from his description of the temp.& conditions . Worth the price
