When one thinks of women in the Middle Ages, the images that often come to mind are those of damsels in distress, mystics in convents, female laborers in the field, and even women of ill repute. In reality, however, medieval conceptions of womanhood were multifaceted, and women's roles were varied and nuanced. Female stereotypes existed in the medieval world, but so too did women of power and influence. The pages of illuminated manuscripts reveal to us the many facets of medieval womanhood and slices of medieval life--from preoccupations with biblical heroines and saints to courtship, childbirth, and motherhood. While men dominated artistic production, this volume demonstrates the ways in which female artists, authors, and patrons were instrumental in the creation of illuminated manuscripts. It only had to travel 60 mile!. It finally arrived this morning with a Royal Mail 48 hour post label, so took a month to finally dispatch

It was exactly as described, and arrived in pristine condition and on the delivery schedule they notified me of. The other two books were unfortunately lost in the mail, and when I contacted the seller about this, they refunded me without any problems. So when things go to plan, they are great, and when things don't go to plan they are great as well. I absolutely love the book I did get, so Thank You for that!

Here it was exactly what I wanted, plus being pristine and new, as described. It took a little while to arrive, as it was clearly coming thru to the company from the States, but it was well worth the wait. It also arrived nicely and safely wrapped.
