Blood Father is about exactly what it is saying. Maybe he wasn't the best father, not always there, but he still loved his family.
The mivie is one of the better ones I've seen come out in a while. Plus, it's a Mel Gibson movie. I felt like he was really being the father he was (ex-con but still loves his daughter despite their differences, etc.). In fact everyone in the movie did a great job and pulled it all together with plenty of action, drama and (IMO) authentic realism of life from the viewpoint they were portraying. I'm super glad I bought this movie. It's a keeper. Unlike Mel Gibson's Lethal Weapon series and many of his other earlier movies, this was a different character he was playing, unlike anything else in the past that I remember (i.e. What Women Want, Maverick, and some of his earlier dramatic movies). He was always the handsome, funny but quick with a gun daredevil type. In Blood Father, he nailed it! All the actors did. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. The ending is not like the norm for MG movies.
