Sony BDP S1700 Blu Ray DVD Player Region Free
Received this Blu Ray player and when we plugged it in it has played every type of disc except one disc that turned out to be defective. Pros: Plays any kind of disc - no setup for discs from other countries outside of the USA. The picture is really clear and crisp - absolutely beautiful! The remote control is easy to learn. The buttons on it are not too small. Small size physically about 9 inches wide. Cons: Only two buttons on the front: Eject and Power - All other functions are handled by the remote control.

Great Product!
I bought this item specifically because I needed a bluray player that could read a hard drive. This thing is great! Have not used the LAN part of it yet but it has Netflix capability.

Sony BDPS1700 WIRED Streaming Blu-Ray Disc Player
This unit is about as simple as you can get. On the front, there is an EJECT button and a Power on/off button. That's it. There is no 'fast forward' or 'fast reverse' button. And there is no start/stop button. You must use the remote control for those functions. On the back there is a USB out, an HDMI in, and a Digital out (with RCA connector). The unit itself is very small. It looks tiny sitting next to my surround sound receiver. It provides an excellent Blu Ray picture. The sound is also excellent. No complaints at all.

How to fix product power-on problem
This product SONY BDPS1700 may appear to have a problem even just turning on, but it can be fixed by searching internet with "SONY BDP-S1700 power on problem. First, you need to first turn on the power by: Turn off power by disconnect power adapter line in > Wait 30 seconds > plug in power > press "Eject" button on player, while simultaneously press "Eject", "Play" and "Stop" buttons on the remote. This is very awkward, and you will need a helping hand. Then use the remote control to change the settings: Home > Setup > System Settings > HDMI Settings > Control for HDMI:OFF. The last step would also change "Link to TV off" to Invalid. Then the product could work independently (not subject to Bravia Sync).

seemingly good machine
easy to use, good picture, i haven't fully utilized all features yet, but a really good machine for the price! -perfect for my needs!

Small, lightweight and does the job so far
For the price, it does the job so far. I've only had it a matter of weeks and didn't need all the bells and whistles on much more expensive Blu-ray players. It's just what I was looking for, at a price I was looking for and it plays blu-rays and dvds beautifully.

Great Replacement For When Your Dog Eats The Cable Again And Again
One of my dogs has gone senile and loves to destroy things late at night when everyone is sleeping. She developed a specific taste for the power cord to my Sony Blu-Ray player. I've bought three so far, and I've only found 2 problems. 1. They could stand to be a few inches longer. 2. They aren't dog-proof.

I love blu-ray movies
It has no problems playing blu-ray, dvd, cd, and cd-rw. It would be better if it had wireless internet, but it doesn't. This particular one has a sticker or label on the front, saying it has wireless LAN, even though it really doesn't. I also like that it is small and somewhat portable. Also, the remote control is really small, so the buttons are a little too close together. Blu-ray movies have amazing video quality.

easy to use and very intituitive. I am able to stop and start at the same location as needed with no additional steps besides stop and start

Excellent player, excellent price.
This player works great. The only problem I have is that the directions seem to be out of date. It says that I have to tell it what region to play the bluray disc in but apparently that's not true. When I tried to select region B it didn't respond. Not knowing what else to do I just put in the disc and it read it and played right away. Right after thst i put in a region A disc and it played without being told to switch. The remote is light and easy to use. It works really well and is the perfect price.
