Black Nylon Tapewound Strings
These are great strings. They look good, feel good, and sound good. Be very careful, however, about getting the correct length. I bought some 'short scale' strings for my 32" bass and found that they were too short, even though it said they would fit 30-32" scale. Luckily I had a 30" scale bass, which they fit nicely. These strings (medium scale) fit my 32" scale bass perfectly. This gauge set is also very efficient, and gives a full warm sound, while still sounding tight. If you play long gigs, these strings are very easy on the fingers. You will be able to play at least 50% longer without getting sore fingers. This changes everything
I recently bought a new bass, and loved almost everything about it, but there was one thing that kept me from really enjoying it. The strings were creating too bright of a sound, and they made noise when I did slides - and I like to do a lot of slides. In fairness, the Elixir strings that came with the bass were advertised to have a bright sound, and a lot of reviewers liked them because of that. However, I'm an old-school kind of guy and like a rounder, more full tone. So I decided to look for alternatives. After researching some forums for suggestions for strings for my bass, I saw a few suggestions for tape-wound strings. I had always been curious about them, and decided to give them a try. Wow - what a difference! The tone was nice and round, and gave me the sound I was looking for. Best of all, I could do long slides with no string noise at all. Nice. Try them out!
These bass strings have a smooth finish and mellow tone, and additionally what’s great about them they fit in the nut slots of basses that require light to medium gauge strings without needing additional nut slotting. Best tapewound strings I've tried.
