SynopsisThe must-have companion to Bill O'Reilly's historical docudrama Legends and Lies: The Patriots , an exciting and eye-opening look at the Revolutionary War through the lives of its leaders The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other, as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: no one was on stable ground and few could be trusted. Through the fascinating tales of the first Americans, Legends and Lies: The Patriots reveals the contentious arguments that turned friends into foes and the country into a warzone. From the riots over a child's murder that led to the Boston Massacre to the suspicious return of Ben Franklin, the "First American;" from the Continental Army's first victory under George Washington's leadership to the little known southern Guerilla campaign of "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion, and the celebration of America's first Christmas, The Patriots recreates the amazing combination of resourcefulness, perseverance, strategy, and luck that led to this country's creation. Heavily illustrated with spectacular artwork that brings this important history to vivid life, and told in the same fast-paced, immersive narrative as the first Legends and Lies, The Patriots is an irresistible, adventure-packed journey back into one of the most storied moments of our nation's rich history., The must-have companion to Bill O'Reilly's historical docudrama Legends and Lies: The Patriots , an exciting and eye-opening look at the Revolutionary War through the lives of its leaders The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. • Great story, well written, wonderfully illustrated

This is a well-written and intelligently but not overly detailed account of the key heroes and villains of the American Revolution and early formation of the USA. Great illustrations permeate the entire book. I recommend the book and the documentary series of the same name aired on Fox News.

  • Great book!

Bill O'Reilly's historical accounts are always excellent! I homeschool my son and when he's old enough he'll be reading these instead of the drab textbooks found in the schools - they're a REAL account of the history of this great nation!

  • Interesting and enlightening

I have enjoyed all of Bill O'Rielly's books so far -He digs deep enough into the history of the event he writes about and for the most part it seems to be accurate and well researched. A good read for someone who wants to know just enough about History people and Us History.

  • One of the best I've read on Colonial America

Bill O'Reilly never fails to tell a good story and present it interestingly !! I seldom read, unfortunately, but HIS books I cannot put down until I have fully " Devoured " them....

  • Legends and Lies

This would be a great history book for high School today, as they teach virtually no history or inaccurate history in todays schools.

  • Disappointed

I have read ALL of Bill O'Reilly's books. I couldn't wait for LEGENDS & LIES The Patriots to come out~the one with the other writer (Duggard) and Bill O'Reilly, so I ordered this one with writer David Fisher. It read more like a history book~not smooth reading as Duggard's writing. Still interesting though.
