One of its Oscars went to George C. Scott for his triumphant portrayal of George Patton, the only Allied general truly feared by the Nazis. Charismatic and flamboyant, Patton designed his own uniforms, sported ivory-handled six-shooters, and believed he was a warrior in past lives. He outmanoeuvred Rommel in Africa, and after D-Day led his troops in an unstoppable campaign across Europe. But he was rebellious as well as brilliant, and as PATTON shows with insight and poignancy, his own volatile personality was one enemy he could never defeat.

This film won many awards....and earned every one of them.
Absolutely stunning in its production values. Every scene brings sharp, eye-witness authenticity, correct in every detail. An enormous cast of principle actors and soldiers of many countries take part in huge scenes re-enacting key battles of WWII. This monumental film is really a serious historical document. Appreciation of this epic film should, ideally, follow reading accounts of the situations depicted. Titles like: 'PATTON: ORDEAL AND TRIUMPH', pub 1963, and the recent: 'KILLING PATTON'.
