Elvis '68 Comeback Special Deluxe Edition
Not extremely impressed with this comeback special. Depending I suppose on which Elvis you are a fan of, you may enjoy this very much. I am more of a fan of the 70s Elvis, (eg. Aloha from Hawaii) and this struck me as a bit boring and repetitive. The regular special edition release may be less monotonous than this release, which repeats certain song numbers numerous times. The sit down and stand up sessions were good for the most part, as well as the production number "If I Can Dream". The other production numbers I was not impressed with. Seems to me that the only reason to get this deluxe 3-disc edition is if you want to see all the minor detail work of Elvis' special. Too many songs repeat and I just think it wasn't necessary and for the pleasure of watching it could have been set up to flow a little better. I would've appreciated a version in which you see each sit down and stand up songs in sequence, without repeats. But if you are a die hard Elvis fan and trying to get your hands on anything Elvis, you may enjoy this. I just prefer a more watchable concert.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

I cant believe I was able to get both DVD sets of ELVIS 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL, and ELVIS ALOHA FROM HAWAII. The 68 comeback special is a 3 DVD set you get it all, the original broadcast show and all the outtakes and rehearsals. And the ALOHA is a 2 DVD set, you get the original show as it aired on television and you get the warm up show from 2 days before, also the outtakes and rehearsals from the four added songs that where done for the original showing after the audience left. Elvis In 68.
Elvis Presley was at the top of his game after being gone so long in 1968 and this boxset prove's it. The high light's of this must have boxset were the 2 sit down shows and the 2 stand up show's Elvis did on June 27th 1968 and June 29th. Wearing all black leather and singing some of the best music of his life you could tell The King was back after years of making Hollywood movies. The fire in his voice and his eye's is all here. The production numbers are all here as well as the gospel segments from start to finish. And although they can become boring at time's you can see all the effort Elvis put into this to make sure the show would be a good one and in the end it was. The 1968 Special was a re-awakening for Elvis as he found his way back to what made him great and this 3 dvd set captures it all in fine Elvis style and I believe is they way he would have loved to be remembered and in alot of ways still is. 7+ hours of Elvis heaven, the 68 special or comeback special is a beloved staple in Elvis’s incredible career, and with this release it’s given the love and care it deserves. Excellent DVD set !
