very historically accurate but had many explicit sex scenes

Correction of my bad review!

Binge watching at it's best
Patrick Swayze! is enough to know it's worth watching this series. But there is a long cast of great actors in this series. The story is more about the families affected by the war and gives you a glimpse of the struggles that took place off the battlefields. There is of course the brother against brother, friend against friend emotional drama. The love story that lasts a lifetime and the tragedy and loss, tears and laughter - it's got it all. You are drawn into their world and get mad at their decisions, cheer them on, and cry with them. So happy to get this dvd complete set of I, II and III !! Like so many I still think that the 1st one is the very very best but the second one is a nice continuation. The third one answers questions and yet somehow you wish there was a number 4. History Brought To Life
The physical package is high quality, brand new, delivered in timely manner. I wanted this because I saw the mini-series years ago and I have the books. John James was a great historian (I'm a history teacher) and a talented writer. You could teach this period big American History with this series. Jakes is so good his characters mesh perfectly with historical figures and events. Through his characters, he shows all the myriad points of view and conflicts intertwined with personal narratives. The producers, writers, and cast did a terrific job of staying true to the books. Great story lines about the Civil War. Engaging, entertaining, fabulous. The acting was phenomenal!
This TV series is an epic Civil War movie including accurate historical facts, great casting of actors/actresses, well developed story lines, and engaging acting by all actors/actresses! It followed a friendship between two soldiers and members of their families on opposite sides of the Mason-Dixon line. Finally a movie she will sit down and watch with me. Probably doesn't that Patrick Swayze is starring in it. I love any movie having to do America be it North or South or the Revolutionary War. This movie covers the life of families on both sides of the Civil War. North and South. It shows how both sides think the war will be over in about a year and they of course will be victorious. Both sides are shocked that the war carries on for 4 years, and how much their lives have been changed. It shows that more than a few good ol boys desert and go back to their Farms or Plantations. All of the slaves are free although most decide to continue on with their now former master's. This is a movie I will watch over and over. Whether she watches with me or not. Course I'll have to watch it at least 3 times or more before I can keep track of everything that is going on. First class movie filled with First class actor's. Great story!
I have ancestry relatives that fought for the North and the South. This was a real meaningful story for me as I related how both sides may have felt. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the families of the Civil War vets. Defective DVD, NORTH AND SOUTH
The DVD set was well packaged and arrive on time. The reason I rated it 3 stars was the first DVD named North and South would not download and I have a good machine so we concluded that it was defective.
