The new optical head of the Yamaha CRW8424 is designed by Yamaha to assure optimum recording quality, and reflects their ten years of experience in the CD recorder industry. The CRW8424 boasts true, sustained 8X recording, surpassing in quality both 4X and 8X from the competition Current, widely available, low cost CD-R media can be used for recording at 8X. For 4X rewriting, 4X compatible CD-RW media are used. All standard CD-ROM formats are supported by the CRW8424 drive; and all major software companies will support it. This next-generation CD-RW drive incorporates all of the features of the earlier award-winning Yamaha Multifunction CD-RW drives, in the same half-height, and match, or exceed their high reliability. The improved performance places the CRW8424 drives among the most powerful storage devices, not only for faster file backup, but also for faster random access rewrite.
