Lots of great pictures!!
Beautiful, colorful pictures, which I believe are a very important feature in all reference books. It gives snips of info about different animals, plants, etc. with the intent to encourage further research elsewhere, in a book geared toward one specific thing. I love it. Back Yard Homestesding
256 page book on backyard homesteading. Very easy reading gives basic knowledge only with lots of color photographs. Covers planning, lay out, plants, animals, trees fruits and nuts. Also covers canning preparation storage, and root cellar. Easy enjoyable read but doesn't get you into major problem solving, but I do recommend the book for beginners.

This book has good basic information.
This book has the basic information needed to get started on homesteading. At least it will head you in the right direction. It will also "whet" the appetite for more information depending on what specific part of homesteading you're most interested in to start with, so be prepared to get excited and look for more in depth information e.g. raising chickens.
