    Simplest way to replace a faulty timer unit

    Bought this to replace a faulty timer unit of the same model. The old unit had been working perfectly for over 20+ years. Simply remove the front panel, where the circuit board and controls are, and pop the new panel back on. Job done. As simple as replacing a blown light bulb. The front control unit has spring loaded contacts to the base plate, so you don't even need to do any rewiring. Oh, don't forget to turn the power off first before you do anything! Yes, there are cheaper, more up to date timer controls available but what you are paying for is ease of replacement. When I examined the old control unit, I noticed the battery inside was dead and leaking so badly that the connection to the circuit board had corroded and loosen off. The cost of a new battery is a few pounds. Do ...

    nice neat timer spoilt by new clock settings

    purchased to replace an old unit, looks the same, wires up the same but they have changed the way you set the clock so now you cant set it up to any time you want the heating etc to come on, stupid idea and honeywell were useless with help and advice. basically if you set on time 1 to 7am and off time 1 to 10.30am, you then set on time 2 to 12.30am you then cant set off time 2 to anything later than 3am. the old pre 2000 ones you could.

    An easy to use controller

    The Honeywell ST699B1002 Programmer is an excellent basic unit which is easy to fit and does all the controlling of your heating & hot water requires. The one i purchased was excellent value.

    Great product, classic design achievement, simple to operate.

    The ST699 does exactly what it needs to do. It controls the timing of the hot water and central heating twice a day, but the best bit is that anybody can set the times without having to read any complex instructions! great for older people and people in a hurry. There is also a 7 day version available which is plug compatible. Great product!

    Best buy a new one, but expensive!

    The Honeywell ST699 is an excellent product when new, but over the years the settings back-up battery fails so that if there is a power cut -off only for seconds, the settings have to be reset. A new back-up battery can be fitted if you can find one.
