Works for me.
I just got this 24-105mm stm lens for my new Canon RP. I got the camera first and used an adapter with some nice and pricey lenses, L series and Sigma Art series to play around while I waited for the RF lens to get here.
Honestly, the adapter worked perfectly. The other lenses (four of them) worked perfectly but still, something didn't feel quite right. I was in the middle of a Bomb Cyclone (really, I was) so I couldn't go out and take landscapes or birds or what have you. I was trapped in the house with the wind bashing at the walls and such.
Hardly ideal conditions, I know, but that was what I had. I did get some good photos but there wasn't that ease of use and relaxed feel that you look for.
Then this unit arrived. It's the STM model, not the expensive USM job so it's reasonably priced. Well, it's better than reasonably priced brand new. The other lenses that I had been using were much more pricey than this unit.
It's funny, some excellent lenses don't cost much but they feel cheap and flimsy. Take for instance the 50mm 1.8 prime or the 10-18mm wide angle. They're both really good. They both take wonderful photos. They both feel and look cheap though.
No so with this guy. It looks and feels solid and smooth. I got flawless performance and great ease of use. True, I was trapped in a house with shutters banging and rain falling and a 17 hour power outage in an emergency area.
Still, as I suffered in silence, okay, I was silent because the phones were dead, but still, when I took a couple of shots in my living room, barely knowing how to use my new camera, it was like dancing with an old friend. The two shots attached are from that night.
It's a keeper.
If you're using a mirrorless with EF lenses and an adapter, consider this. You can easily sell your EF lenses for more than this will cost you and you'll get better performance out of it.
Check it out. You'll thank me.
